MAKING MEETINGS LIVELY

Meetings have become a necessity in today’s busy corporate world. People feel there are simply too many meetings on daily, weekly and monthly basis and that most of these meetings are just not necessary.

Whether you find it a waste of time or boring you’ve got to attend it so why not follow the following two suggestions:

A] Practice being truly present

B] Tell yourself that you’re going to learn something new from each meeting.

Practice being truly present!

You’re anyway there in the meeting. So, why let your mind wander? Try to make the best use of it. In that way, if there is something to contribute you can. Once you’re actively present, you won’t be able to feel the boredom. Not only that, it is an experience and you can carry on all the positive attributes to the next meeting.

You can also notice an increased sense of respect from the others. When they note that you’re listening, people will have a keen interest on your say as well! They get drawn to your energy. When this happens you will want to offer more, won’t you?

If you’re a shy or reserved person, gain courage, and try to put in your suggestions and in no time you will be able to come out of your nutshell. Forget about what others might think about you.

On the other hand, if you still feel expressing opinions in crowd is just not you then, tell yourself that: You’re going to learn something new from every meeting.

Listen carefully to what is being said. Agree or disagree to what is being expressed in your mind. In this way you will be able to gain new wisdom or new facts. Additional insights come to your mind. Stop thinking that you know everything, instead have a beginner’s mind and learn as much as possible. Let your mind be focused and stick to your intention of learning something new from every meeting.

Meetings would be fun if you sincerely follow the above two strategies. The results turn out to be quite effective and productive. You there in the meeting anyway, so why not spend it a healthy way, instead of, simply dreaming what’s for lunch or dinner today.

Hence, try following the above suggestions, for all that you know; someday you may even head a meeting.
