Our Client is the leading provider of ICT software, services and infrastructure to UK schools, colleges and universities. Founded in 1973, they have spent over 30 years designing transformational solutions for education that are based on the needs of teachers and learners in the classroom.

As the leading supplier of ICT to education, they have invested heavily into developing a wide range of solutions - from educational networks and software to PCs designed specifically for the classroom. They combine quality with innovation and have won many awards over the past year, including four 2005 BETT Awards for our educational software.

They have therefore partnered with over a hundred major educational and IT companies, such as Apple and Granada Learning, to maximise the choice offered to their customers. They are also the ICT supplier for the Tesco Computers for Schools programme.

Over 1800 people are employed by our client, most of whom are based at the headquarters at Milton Park in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. our client has 6 UK offices in Stockport, Glasgow, Dudley, Sheffield, Otley and Abingdon and 3 international offices in India, America and Australia.

Live Communications Expert	Essential Skills: As a minimum we would expect the candidate to have a good first degree in a technical or scientific discipline, and a demonstrable interest in IT. Ideally, the candidate would have a Software/computing/engineering degree with long history of IT interest. Live Communication Server (Office Communicator or Communicator Web Access) Windows Server 2003 networking Configuration of IIS SQL Server 2000/5 Excellent system design skills Desirable Skills: Experience of other Instant Messaging solutions Previous experiences working on Data Centre solutions or in the Web industry MCSE qualification Technical document writing, such as writing up designs, documenting processes for other engineers to carry out Experience taking a leading role in technical projects Although knowledge of any particular programming language is not required, the role may require the ability to learn some scripting languages (e.g. VB Script, Install Shield), and to lead people who are programmers (languages currently used in the department include C#, C++, VB .Net, InstallShield script, VBScript, JavaScript and KIX). Understanding of SSO Responsibilities: An example of the type of work involved would be responsibility for designing and implementing the end to end Install Messaging solution for RM's SSDN project (this nationwide intranet solution for all Scottish schools, pupils, teachers and parents) , which is based on Live Communication Server.
